URSULA
In the short time that Ursula has been open, this Crown Heights cafe has already become a cult classic, with lines out the door at any given time for their to-die-for breakfast burritos. Their food is a love letter to New Mexico and its chiles, with menu favorites like stuffed beef sopaipillas and green chile stew featuring red and green chiles shipped from New Mexico.
For Soup Shop’s Chili Cook-off, Chef Eric See will be serving Lamb & Navajo Pinto Bean Chili with Blue Corn and Juniper Ash Cornbread, a tribute to the history and contributions of the Diné people to New Mexican cuisine. Chef Erichas sourced roasted blue corn meal, juniper ash and pinto beans from Diné owned agricultural businesses and red chile from small family owned farms in central New Mexico.

Their entry into the Soup Shop Chili Cook-off is the Vegan Texas Red, a smoky, plant-based take on the classic, bean-free Texas Chili. Served with a choice of vegan cornbread or extra corn chip scoops if you prefer gluten free.

Mission is the iconic establishment founded by Chef Danny Bowien, currently located in East Williamsburg. Renowned for boundary-defying dishes like their titillating interpretation of Chilled Mala Peanut Noodles or their rendition of Kung Pao, which replaces chicken with pastrami, diners return again and again for the mind-altering experience.
For Soup Shop, Chef Danny is creating a chili that incorporates Mission’s signature sichuan pepper-heavy Ma Po, an elevated chili that promises to bring you to a different flavor dimension.
